Rachel E. Spielman
Executive Vice President
Rachel E. Spielman has combined both Wall Street and business media experience, including equity research for Salomon Smith Barney, and production and reporting for CNN Business News, both in London and in New York. As an executive vice president of Ruder Finn, she focuses on global corporate reputation programs, with special focus on C-level publicity and media relations.
While at Ruder Finn, Ms. Spielman has worked on corporate reputation programs for a variety of clients across industries, focusing mainly in the pharmaceuticals and biotech realm. Projects have included strategic media relations; corporate and C-level thought-leadership development and publicity; internal and external public relations; advertising; Internet strategy; collateral development; and crisis management. Corporate reputation management projects include strategic counsel, with tactical execution of programs across the communications spectrum; goals generally focus on positive increases in corporate and executive brand awareness and favorability, via the primary drivers of hard news and opportunistic media relations. Ms. Spielman has been instrumental in placing numerous stories, including front-page and other major features, in publications including The New York Times, The Wall Street Journal, The Financial Times, BusinessWeek, Forbes, and more. While at Ruder Finn, Ms. Spielman’s work has helped earn awards including a Gold Sabre, Big Apple, Silver Anvil and Bronze Anvil.
Ms. Spielman’s professional experience spans the spectrum of financial analysis to broadcast reporting and production. Prior to joining Ruder Finn in February 2000, she worked in equity research at Salomon Smith Barney (now part of Citigroup) in New York.
Prior to her work at Salomon Smith Barney, Ms. Spielman did production, editorial and reporting work for CNN Business News, both in London and in New York. In addition to working on CNN World Business Today in London, she worked with Lou Dobbs on CNN Moneyline in New York (now known as Lou Dobbs Tonight), and was part of a small team that launched CNNfn (CNN financial network) in 1996.
Ms. Spielman has an M.B.A. in Finance from Columbia Business School, where she graduated on the Dean’s List, and has a B.A. from Brown University, where she majored in English and American Literature.
