Susan Hirsch
Global Healthcare Practice Leader
As Global Healthcare Practice Head, Susan oversees all activities pertaining to planning and overseeing the management and growth of the Global Healthcare practice, with primary responsibilities for the New York Healthcare Practice. Her vision for the RF Healthcare Practice is grounded in genuine senior-level engagement, team entrepreneurialship, and transparent & proactive strategic partnering.
Susan's client experience includes corporate communications, global brand positioning, core global programming, pipeline communications, issues management, category expansion, consumer awareness, U.S. and global product approvals and launches, as well as media relations for financial, trade and consumer media. She has lead pre-approval and launch programs for high-profile and blockbuster brands, including Celebrex, Gleevec, Levitra, Procrit and Erbitux.
Before joining RF, Susan served at Ogilvy Public Relations Worldwide as head of the U.S. Regional Healthcare Practice. While at Ogilvy, Susan was client service leader for Bristol-Myers Squibb, which under her stewardship became the largest client in Ogilvy PR's worldwide network. She also worked with GlaxoSmithKline and Bayer to develop/lead the pre-approval and launch communications strategy for the erectile dysfunction therapy Levitra. Levitra received "Best PR Campaign" at the 2003 PhAME Awards, and also was recognized in the PRWEEK 2003 Book of Lists as one of the "Top 10 Product Launches You Couldn't Miss" and was cited as triggering "One of the Top 10 Account Moves -- Viagra to Weber-Shandwick." In addition, Levitra captured a 50% share of all new prescriptions in the ED market just one month after receiving FDA approval.
Previous agency experience includes Ruder Finn, where she developed and managed global internal and external communications programs for Pfizer (integration of Pfizer and Warner-Lambert research organizations) as well as Novartis (oncology franchise, GI franchise, corporate reputation, corporate communications, Research Organization). Prior agency experience also includes Chandler Chicco Agency and CPR Worldwide.
She began her career as an editor with the Morris Newspaper group in the southeastern United States. Susan earned her B.A. with honors in English, and also her M.A. in Journalism and Mass Communications, from the University of Georgia. Susan resides in New York City where she enjoys spending all of her free time with her husband, Michael, and her 2 baby daughters, Chloe & Madelyn.
